POLL: Qualifying Fandoms
[Eventually I will work out the kinks and quit posting about qualifying fandoms so damn much. Hopefully this post will help to alleviate that.]
Now polling for potential qualifying fandoms. Anticipated sign-up dates are May 1-7, with stories due July 1. (These dates are not definite, but the remix will not start any earlier than that due to real-life commitments I have and to give interested writers plenty of time to make sure they qualify.)
This is not the definitive list. It is based on the fandoms most often mentioned in the preliminary posts at my DW and femmeremix. There is an option to add other fandoms in which you qualify.
Qualifying means that you have written at least THREE stories with female characters of 500+ words or FIVE stories with female characters of 100+ words in that fandom.
Official poll is HERE.

Do you mean "you've written at least THREE stories with female characters of 500+ words IN THE FANDOMS YOU NAMED"?
Or do you mean "you've written at least THREE stories with female characters of 500+ words, PERIOD"?

How are crossovers handled? I have one crossover of exactly 500 words in which the female character is fused in her role in both fandoms (Kitty/Jen from Sherlock/IT Crowd). Can I count that towards Sherlock?

I see the wild-card as being similar to what we all already do with fanfiction in the first place: taking a source and making it our own. You won't be allowed to change the fandom or the pairing, but most of us should be able to write a story based on one of the stories our remixee has written. You can choose to ignore the actual canon and base your piece entirely on what you can glean from the remixee's story, or you can do a little research/possibly read/watch the original source and use that to inform your writing. It's up to you on how to proceed, and you will be able to choose to possibly be remixed by a wild-card or to possibly write a wild-card remix separately.
The other thing about the wild-card is that just because you opt-in doesn't mean you won't share fandoms (and if I understand the way AO3 matching works, it will skew toward most people matching on a fandom rather than the wild-card). I'm hoping that offering the wild-card as an option will allow people who may not be able to participate otherwise a chance to play.
(This is assuming, of course, that a significant number of people are interested in doing a wild-card. There will be further discussion of just how it works at a later date.)

You've split up DC movies into Batman and Superman? Darn! I don't qualify on either by themselves but I do on both together, and the main remix has them together.
There's also no option for "I don't qualify now but I will probably qualify for the deadline."

I... don't think I actually meant to split Superman and Batman. I pulled the poll from the excel spreadsheet I had, and missed that split when I was double-checking things (I think I saw "DCU" and forgot that I had three different DC categories).
I've got a few answers in the "other" category that are going to need clarification, but I'm going to give the current poll about a week before I start asking more questions (mostly about whether there are fandoms that should/should not be split -- Batman/Superman, Game of Thrones/ASoIaF, the Stargates).

Nod! Thanks!

I suspect I know the answer to this but I'm asking anyway: a fic in the form of a limerick, where making it a hundred words long would make it cease to be a limerick. Can I count it as one of my fics to qualify? I doubt it, but I gotta ask.

If it's over 100 words, yes, but if it's less than 100, it's a no-go. Doesn't mean it can't be remixed, but it can't count as a qualifying story, either.

That's what I thought. Thanks.
